Its principal activity consists in carrying out tests and providing services.

Our Laboratories can provide the following services:
- dielectric tests and impact tests of current of the lightning
- electric characteristics and temperature-rise tests
- partial discharges mesurements
- Mechanical tests
- various tests (climatic ageing, dimensional, weighting, thickness of galvanisation…)

The General Techniques Center assists the operational units of STEG and other national and even foreign companies in preventive and curative maintenance fields.
Its operation revolves around three principal axes :

Tests & measurements
Services
- checking the operating conditions and the outputs of energy production systems
- Testing dielectric behaviour under high continuous voltage or at industrial frequency, of magnetizing of magnetic circuits

Mecanics & Metallurgy
Services
The purpose of this unit is to perform mecanical and chimical tests required for power stations, lines and stations such as metals, refractories, water, fuels, lubricants, dielectric and polluting.

Studies & work
Services
This unit is mainly in charge of the studies and maintenance, manufacturing and repair works requiring the deployment of large means.

This Unit uses executives high level (Engineers and Technicians) and has of an engineering and design department specialized in mechanical engineering and a mechanical maintenance workshop (machining and boiler making)
