[Generation] [Transmission] [Distribution] [Natural Gas] [LPG]

The STEG has a wide production facilities spreaded on 25 stations (steam turbines, Gas turbines, cycles combined, hydraulic, wind mill) of an installed working capacity of about 4792 MW in 2014 (4334 in 2013).

In 2014, the production of electricity by the STEG amounts to 14.117 GWh(13.947 in 2013). The national production is 17.677 GWh (17.087 in 2013).

Technological choices

The technological choices adopted by STEG are explained by its permanent concern to finding a better compromise among reliability requirements, the availability, the control costs and the respect of the environment.

Peak-time evolution

In 2014, the national point reached 3.465 MW (3.144 MW in 2013).

The production calls upon many substitutable technologies:

  • Thermal Steam
  • Combined Cycle
  • Gas Turbine
  • Hydraulic
  • Aeolian

Environment protection

The goal to preserve the environment by supporting production of the green kilowatt-hour, the STEG adopted natural gas as a clean primary energy and used the most adapted equipment such as the combined cycle which occupies a dominant place in the production of electrical energy sector.
For the same reasons, the STEG integrated wind technology among its choices of production. The first wind power station of 20 Megawatt (MW) was brought into service in year 2000 at Sidi Daoud North East and. It kbew a first extension of 35 Megawatt (MW), a new of the same power is in hand.

A project of realization of the extensions of the wind power stations of Métline and Kechabta in the area of Bizerte with a power of 70 Megawatt (MW).
